Job Description

: Woonsocket Admin - Admin Office Clerk Heading: Title: Patient Billing and Collections Clerk Reports To: Billing Manager Department: Billing Job Grade: Employment Status: Non-Exempt Date: July 2006 General Responsibilities: To collect debts from self-pay patients. Required Qualifications: High School Graduate with 2-4 years experience in collections; assertive with ability to communicate effectively. Primary Contacts: External: Frequency: General Patients Daily Internal: Frequency: Medical Front Office Staff Daily Billing Manager Weekly Physical Effort/Environment: General office environment. No unusual physical demands. Work Schedule Demands: Full Time (40 hours per week), 10am to 6pm. Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills required, as well as good telephone skills. Confidentiality of Information: High level of confidentiality required. Significant Job Functions: Collect of debt from patients by calling them; meet with them, and making arrangements for payments. Sending monthly statements, verification letters, and sending uncollectible accounts to our collection agency. Process adjustments, write-offs, and collection on bad debt and report monthly to Site Director. Supply Site Director with quarterly updates on Aging Report status. Going to court to represent the Health Center if it becomes necessary.
