About the Role:

SiSTEM is hiring experienced AP tutors to work with motivated students and families in the Houston area.

This is not a volume tutoring gig. Our tutors work as trusted academic partners with families who value expertise, helping students master AP-level content, develop strong exam strategies, and earn the scores they need for college credit and competitive admissions.

AP Exam Preparation Support:

• Full course tutoring for students currently enrolled in an AP class.
• AP exam review and intensive prep leading up to exam day.
• Free-response question (FRQ) strategy and practice.
• Multiple-choice strategy and pacing.
• AP score goal setting based on target colleges and credit policies.
• Pre-AP readiness for students preparing to take their first AP course.
• AP course selection guidance for students building a competitive transcript.

You do not need to tutor every AP subject. If you specialize in AP Chemistry only, or AP English Language only, or AP US History only, or anything in between, we want you on our team.

About SiSTEM:

SiSTEM is an academic guidance platform that builds personalized roadmaps for students in grades K–12. Every student on SiSTEM has a plan. Tutors are a key part of that plan and are matched to students based on specific needs, not random availability.

We started as a tutoring agency in Texas, grew to 300+ tutors serving 10,000+ students, and are now launching a platform that gives educators better tools, better-matched students, and the ability to build a real client base.

What You'll Do:

• Work one-on-one with students to provide focused AP-level instruction in your subject area.
• Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just memorize content for the exam.
• Build critical thinking, analytical writing, and problem-solving skills specific to the AP exam format.
• Coach students through free-response questions, document-based questions, lab-based questions, or other exam-specific formats depending on the subject.
• Identify and close content gaps that are holding students back from higher scores.
• Help students manage the workload and rigor of AP coursework alongside their other classes.
• Align your sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
• Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
• Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.

What We're Looking For:

We are selective about who joins the SiSTEM team.

Strong candidates typically have:

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in at least one AP subject.
• Deep content expertise and strong familiarity with the AP exam format, scoring rubrics, and question types in your subject area.
• Experience working with motivated students who are aiming for 4s and 5s.
• A track record of helping students improve their AP exam scores or succeed in AP coursework.
• Clear, patient communication and the ability to make rigorous content feel manageable.
• Professional reliability.

Bonus: current or former AP classroom teachers, AP exam readers or graders, college professors who tutor high school students, educators with advanced degrees in their subject area, tutors who can coach across multiple AP subjects.
