Medical Billing Specialist | Healthcare Revenue Cycle

Pay: $18.00–$23.00 per hour (DOE)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm | In-Person/Hybrid (if applicable)

Medical Billing Specialist – Must-Have Requirements

• Experience in medical billing or revenue cycle operations required
• Knowledge of insurance claims (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid)
• Experience with claim submission, denial follow-up, and appeals
• Familiarity with medical billing software and EHR systems
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work aging reports and follow-up accounts
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of HIPAA and billing compliance regulations

Medical Billing Specialist – Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist responsible for managing insurance claims, payment posting, account follow-up, and patient collections. This role ensures timely and accurate reimbursement from insurance carriers and patients while maintaining compliance with all billing regulations and organizational standards.

Medical Billing Specialist – Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Submit claims to commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers
• Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims
• Correct and resubmit claims as needed
• Prepare and submit appeals for denied claims
• Post insurance and patient payments in billing system
• Generate and manage patient statements
• Establish and maintain patient payment plans
• Collect on delinquent accounts via phone and mail
• Review aging reports and prioritize follow-up actions
• Process patient refunds for approval
• Assist staff with billing-related questions
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records
• Support resolution of EHR and billing system issues
• Ensure compliance with billing and payer regulations

Medical Billing Specialist – Additional Qualifications

• Experience analyzing claim trends preferred
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Proficiency with billing systems and EHR platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
• Prior experience in revenue cycle or healthcare finance is a plus
