Assignment Length: 13 weeks, with possible extension

Location: Syracuse, NY

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM ET

Hours: 40 hours per week

Work Setting: Hospital / Academic Medical Center / Pathology Department

Job Summary

ND Global Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified Pathologist Assistant for a temporary contract opportunity in Syracuse, New York. The selected candidate will support the daily operations of the Surgical Pathology Gross Room and assist with pathology-related workflow in a fast-paced clinical environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong surgical pathology experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, department managers, medical directors, pathologists, and laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities

The Pathologist Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the day-to-day operations of the Surgical Pathology Gross Room.
  • Performing gross examination and description of surgical pathology specimens, as permitted by facility policy and applicable regulations.
  • Assisting with specimen handling, dissection, documentation, and workflow coordination.
  • Organizing, planning, delegating, implementing, and participating in gross room tasks as needed.
  • Supporting department operations in the absence of the Pathologist Assistant Supervisor.
  • Working in consultation with the Supervisor, Department Managers, and Section Medical Director.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in accordance with facility requirements.
  • Following all applicable hospital, pathology department, safety, infection control, and compliance policies.
  • Maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality in a healthcare setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Master’s degree in health sciences from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologist Assistant training program .
  • ASCP certification or ASCP eligibility required.
  • Must be able to meet current New York State Department of Health and New York State Education Department licensing requirements for the Pathologist Assistant discipline.
  • Prior experience in surgical pathology grossing and specimen processing.
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM ET.
  • Ability to complete required background check, drug screening, health clearance, orientation, and onboarding requirements before assignment start.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast-paced teaching hospital or academic medical center.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical pathology gross room operations.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.

Compensation

Competitive hourly compensation will be discussed based on experience, qualifications, assignment requirements, and client approval.
