SYSTEMS ENGINEER SENIOR

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Systems Engineer Senior, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of Integrated Undersea Surveillance Systems (IUSS). You will play a crucial role in helping sustain IUSS systems.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Sustainment Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the long-term operational readiness and lifecycle support of our complex electronic systems. This role involves close collaboration with internal engineering teams, external vendors, and on-site personnel to coordinate maintenance, troubleshoot system issues, and support system testing and upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engineering Coordination & Planning:
    • Actively participate in key engineering meetings, including Working-Level Integrated Product Teams (WIPTs) and Failure Review Boards (FRBs).
    • Develop, update, and maintain system Sustainment Plans, incorporating inputs and action items from all stakeholders.
    • Serve as a primary liaison between system vendors, on-site teams, and internal engineers to coordinate troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades.
    • Review technical engineering plans, vendor documentation, and training materials, providing critical feedback to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • System Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
    • Lead and support the diagnosis and resolution of system trouble tickets from initial report to final resolution.
    • Facilitate troubleshooting for complex issues related to power systems, software faults, hardware failures, and network connectivity.
    • Coordinate on-site and remote technical assistance from vendors and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Testing & Maintenance Strategy:
    • Provide direct engineering support during Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities, including planning and on-site coordination.
    • Develop and refine maintenance strategies by creating maintenance responsibility matrices and system troubleshooting guides.
    • Review and update maintenance procedures (e.g., Maintenance Requirement Cards - MRCs) to ensure they are current and effective.

Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
Experience: 5+ years of related experience
Technical skills: Proven experience in a systems engineering, field service, or sustainment engineering role. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electronic and software-based systems
Security clearance level: Secret
US citizenship required
Role requirements: Onsite and some travel
