NurseAmerica is building a talent pool of qualified Hospice Registered Nurses (RNs) for current and upcoming opportunities with healthcare organizations across Oklahoma.
We are seeking compassionate and clinically skilled nurses who are passionate about providing comfort-focused, patient-centered care to individuals and families navigating serious illness and end-of-life care.
Position SummaryThe Hospice RN provides skilled nursing care to terminally ill patients in their homes and other appropriate care settings. The RN assesses patient needs, manages symptoms, provides pain and comfort management, coordinates the plan of care, educates patients and families, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary hospice teams.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, emotionally resilient, self-directed, and comfortable working independently while supporting patients and families during end-of-life care.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide skilled nursing care to hospice patients based on individualized plans of care.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in clinical condition.
Assess and manage pain, symptoms, and comfort needs.
Administer medications, treatments, and other therapies as ordered.
Provide wound care and other skilled nursing interventions as appropriate.
Communicate changes in patient condition to physicians and other members of the care team.
Educate patients and families regarding medications, symptom management, disease progression, and available resources.
Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and families.
Support patients and families with end-of-life and bereavement-related needs.
Participate in hospice admissions, routine visits, follow-up visits, and triage as assigned.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
Collaborate with physicians, social workers, chaplains, aides, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Follow hospice standards, policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Advocate for patient comfort, dignity, preferences, and quality of life.
Participate in quality improvement and continuing education activities.
Perform additional nursing duties as assigned.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma or applicable Compact RN license.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program; ADN or BSN accepted.
Current BLS/CPR certification.
1+ year of RN experience preferred.
Hospice experience preferred.
Med/Surg, home health, oncology, LTC, or other relevant nursing experience may be considered.
Strong assessment, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Understanding of pain management and symptom control.
Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
Valid Oklahoma driver's license.
Reliable transportation and appropriate automobile insurance for home-based assignments.
