Job Description Summary:

Collaborates with the General Counsel to provide legal advice and take legal action. Supervises other attorneys and staff in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and strategic objectives.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Provides strategic legal counsel to hospital leadership and operational teams on a broad range of healthcare legal matters, with emphasis on litigation, disputes, and payor-related issues, including government programs such as Medicaid.
  • Manages and oversees litigation and dispute resolution, including pre-litigation matters, supervision of outside counsel, and advising on risk, exposure, and resolution strategies.
  • Advises on regulatory compliance and risk management, including interpretation and application of federal and state healthcare laws, responses to audits and investigations, and development of policies and procedures.
  • Reviews, drafts, and negotiates operational and vendor agreements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Supports the organization’s Integrity and Compliance Program and enterprise legal initiatives.

Education Requirement:

Juris Doctorate, required.

Licensure Requirement:

Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio, required.

Skills:

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess good practical judgment and legal skills sufficient to render independent legal advice.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Experience:

  • Ten years of legal experience, including both in-house and private practice, with concentration in the areas of clinical and non-clinical research, technology transfer and other related experience, required.
  • Healthcare law experience, preferred.
